About the Festival

Ciudad Emergente is a showground for what is going on among the youth. This Festival, organised by the Ministry of Culture of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires, presents the new expressions of the youth culture: rock, pop, street art, animation, poetry, cinema and digital art.

The first admission free edition took place in 2008: for three days the different areas of Centro Cultural Recoleta witnessed the appearances of new rock bands from Argentina (Los Alamos, Victoria Mil, Iluminate and The Tormentos, among others) and the world (Spaniards Los Planetas, Mexicans Zoé); a film programme curated by BAFICI, Rockumentales; poetry and music seasons and “spontaneous” activities such as the mural that today embellishes the central courtyard of the cultural centre in Recoleta district.

In its first edition, the total number of visitors drawn by Ciudad Emergente reached 50 thousand.
